HI all ,since wasnt able to log on so thought of posting this interesting news i came by. Though i think many of u will have already read it but for those of my freinds who are too busy playing a3 heres the news--

"New age recipe? WOMEN BATTER MEN"

(Shimla) The tables are turned as increasing number of men in this Himalyan state are seeking succor from bullying wives. According to sources, the Himachal pradesh Women's commision, which usually looks into discrimination and atrocities against the fairer sex, is now faced with complaints from men who have started approaching the independednt body for relief.

Officials say there are 177 cases lodged with the comission from across the state, with harassed men from 10 of the states's 12 districts making a beeline for justice. In almost all the cases, the tormentors are the wives. According to the petitions filed by men they were being ill - treated neglected and in some cases , even being beaten up by their enraged spouses. "With women finally fighting back, such cases are only going to rise in future" woman activist Ponam chauhan said.

"Men approaching the women's commission is significant development.Even though atrocities against women continue, men seeking relief from their wives surely marks a new trend in Himachal" she said

Some husbands complained their wives had left behind children, forcing the men to play the role of both parents. Besides being bread-winners they also had to perform other house-hold chores like cooking and raising children.

To this activist Poonam Chauhan said "High literacy rates in the state could be a major reason for this change" -- "from economic times"

Sad (de)activist. But indeed, consider this. Did ever beating of a woman in any household made a news of this sort? Did ever filing of petition by woman about harassment made a front page news (except those page 3 masala content)? Don t think so. Reason - soceity is used to it and accepts it as a part of daily life. A mere 177 men filing a complaint makes a news. This should not be contrused as i accept the incident as correct.

This article came in Economic times on 10th march you can check if you want to. And i agree on what you said but its not like such incidents against women are never reported. Many of such cases are reported. Anyway i didnt posted this to start another girls vs boys:evil: . Just some news i thought might be interesting.

I m not saying incident agst women are not reported. They r, but as a run of a mill thingy on some little crime column on 8th page newspaper. while news like above make a front page *humourous* masala story.

Well its not a front page story it came on the back page(24th page)that too a small column . Anyway i dont think its *humourous* or "masala story" Though its true that such incidents create more hype than other incidents against women.
