So basically a girl have to be better in one more thing like sports or something or to the least have to give extra test or to take a loan to get the same privileges that a guy gets as a birth right, in an average indian family. And as a matter of fact how many scholarships exists. Whatever are there have been formed some 50 yrs back which when translated in todays terms means nothing. I myself have seen SCHOLARSHIPS for girls in courses like C.A. or C.S. - and the amount they give..... Big Rs. 350/- per month. Thats what we call scholarship in india.

Yes lately is something like 2 decades only, before these partly free things came out, spending on girls was considered a waste. Even today, in smaller towns and villages, its like that.

Loans, there u go. So its not free.

uh harward??? Its Harvard !!!

neways if girls want to be treated equally by the whole public i suggest one thing...try to get the quota system removed in everything like 30% reserved seats for women etc.etc.

and it is true that girls do get better marks but most of the girls either have nothing else to do so they study like wackos..
most of the girls who are social or gud looking rarely get good marks...case in point most of the commerce colleges..

About gaming well not many girls in A3 so no point in arguing

A GIRL ?? EVERY SINGLE PERSON HAS TO BE GOOD AT ONE OR MORE THINGS, IT'S NOT A BIRTH RIGHT FOR GUYS AS YOU SAY, IN THE END IT TURNS OUT THAT IT'S A MILLION TIMES EASIER TO EDUCATE GALS THAN GUYS. WELL THAT 350 BUCKS HAS BE DECIDED UPON AFTER CONSULTING A LOTTA THINGS, GALS GET FREE TRANSPORTATION, THEY GET FREE BOOKS, IF YOU WOULD' CUT OUT MAKE-UP, A MILLION CLOTHES AND NAIL POLISHES TO GO WITH EACH N EVERY BIT OF CLOTH[SKIMPY OR WHOLE], ANOTHER MILLION SHOES TO GO WITH NAIL POLISHES, MAINTAING CLASS ACT, MOBILES, ACCESSORIES AND YADA YADA..............THAT 350 BUCKS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH TO TAKE OUT 6 MONTHS!

THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY FEES EITHER! SO 350 IS MORE OF A BARGAIN.

WELL I SEE GIRL GRADUATES N POST GRADUATES THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE FAMILY, MY GRANNIES WERE EDUCATED FROM OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY BEFORE INDEPENDENCE, ALL ON MERIT BASIS, NOT A PENNY USED. YOUR FEMINIST ATTITUDE ONLY MAKES YOU EXAGGERATE YOUR CLAIMS AND YOUR WAY OF THINKING BLOCKS OUT THE RAY OF SUNSHINE IF YOU GET WHAT I MEAN.

IF YOU CRIB SOO MUCH HERE THEN WHY DON'T YOU GO AND INITIATE SOMETHING AGAINST THE MALPRACTISES, GIRLS ARE IGNORED IN VILLAGES WHICH CONSTITUTE 30% OF INDIA'S POPULATION, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO CHANGE THAT THAN CRIB ABOUT IT HERE?

So finally u came down to personal attacks. Last golden rule of flaming, when u cant argue, launch personal attacks, and if that fails, abuse are always ther to take care of your opponents. Have u ever seen any1 using word something like " y dont u go to village n do ..#!@!@#" in a debate. Well i have not. And so far as girls get free transportation.... well i dont get it in my city atleast.

"Very true indeed". As i said earlier stop this fighting over an issue which has been there for always and you can simply go on arguing on this forever. How about understanding each other's views and then discussing this.
IC and Dred you both are just trying to show that what you say is reality and the other one is completely wrong but its actually a mix. Meaning both of your views are correct in there own prospective 8)
So chill guys :) :)

Nah nihal, as i posted earlier, its a grey scale, with no person at either extremes of the scale. Evry1 lies somewhere in the middle of that scale, with only a inclination towards either of the extremes. Neither m i trying to impress upon any1 that girls or for that matter any1 is good or bad. The point of posting this article was not that. All that the article said was girls are coming up faster than guys in many fields, games being one of them. But alas, some1 missed the point of article.

Agreed i went a bit off topic but you guys started it. The main topic was about girls in indian gaming but see the posts . You all were discussing about society , education etc. Well lets stick to main topic of girls in gaming. 8)

For that i will like to say there is still long way for girls to go even though they may be coming up. As it has been already said not many girls are interested in gaming. Its still a boys area. Reasons are obviously infront of us all. Exceptions are always there but in general if we look at our own region barely few girl players( atleast from my region). Anyway whether its a girl or a boy what matters is they enjoy the game , its not a field of competition on who is better. 8)

Absolutely, but as u see in the other thread main reasons why guys play game is - competition (even at the cost of manipulaing/abusing other ppl or environment) etc, while main reason why girls play game is immersion or escapism or for forming a relation. This to some extent explains why there are so few girls in the gaming. Coz for imersion or escapism factor u dont need any1 (neutral impact on environment/ppl arnd u), for relation u need a positive response from environment. But for manipulation, u dont need any1 to support u, but u do a nagative impact on environment- presisely the thing girls dont prefer. Hence fewer girls.
