The following are some generic tips and guidelines, as well as a few notes on in game etiquette.
0) Look at the forums for help!! Both this and the Singapore A3 forums provide a wealth of information on gameplay (http://www.a3.igamesasia.com.sg)
1) When you begin, head for one of the NPCs, or shop characters that you find. Click on them and do 'select quest'-and follow the instructions they provide. This will save you from shouting 'what do i do' at the world in general. The first quest just involves locating various NPCs. When you are done-go to Nerrmar (quanato) or TorrBier (temoz) to begin your first quests.
2) Leveling up Kindly do not start pestering everyone you see to level you up. Do quests, find other new players to quest together. Higher players might come along with you to help you out on quests, but it depends on how much higher than you they are (and how helpful they are). There's no incentive for a high player (over 50 for example) to go to Elkenver or Carode, cos they won't get any XP there.
The best option for all new players is-find other newbies like yourself, make friends and party together!
As for actual leveling up-start doing that after you have at least crossed lvl 12 to 15; below that you won't survive on higher maps.
3) Questing The best reason to do quests I feel, is to improve your own knowledge of the game. If you take up quests, you will figure out the best places for certain types of monsters, better ways to attack and dodge, where scrolls and stuff drops and so on. This knowledge can be used to your advantage later.
Apart from that-I personally feel you are wasting your time if all you do is leech with other players. Face it, is it really any fun standing around in a party, just getting drops to sell?
Why not go kill a few monsters with your new skills/weapons as you level up?
PK or player kill A so called 'feature' of the game that helps everyone to discover their inner *censored*.

So what do you do? Feel the pain, feel the rage, and build up a kill list for payback time when you're high level? That's one way to go.
The worst thing is-you lose 2% experience and can even drop items when you get killed. I've seen noobs come complain about losing 20% XP over in C1 and similar places.
What makes you go back there to get killed again, masochism? And if you encounter an HK with RC (reverse cure, or revive the dead), god help you. Ppl have been RC-aposple-RC by sadist HKs till they're at -20 or -40%. Turn off 'accept reverse cure' in your options, you don't need it at low levels any way.
Bottom line-don't waste time getting angry if you get killed. Go back to town, and stay there for some time; or go to some other map.
That was about PK. The following kinds of behavior is likely to get you PKed-so watch it! Remember-good manners and etiquette are as much a part of the online world as the real one.
Unsolicited party requests IT happens so often. One is chatting with someone, and presses the enter key just as a party request dialog pops up. Next thing, you're in party with some noob. Or worse, we have a party and are waiting for someone to come and join, and some noob ends up joining. Then we have to reparty.
Before joining someone, ask them for permission!! Once a lvl 15 warrior entered our party for R3 without asking. I didn't say anything. The liroxes were so pleased to make his acquaintance!

Begging for money This sickens me to the core. Go get a frickin life!

Do you seriously expect someone to give you free handouts? Is that what you do in real life, go stand at the traffic signal with a cup in hand??
If you are desperate for cash, make a new char, do the first 'meet npcs' quest, and sell the shue resurection potion that you get at the end of it. It will get you 20k wz, which should be sufficient.
Leeching Let me first define leeching in this context-Being in a party and doing nothing, under the pretext of lag, or 'the monsters are too tough'. If you join a party-make yourself useful. Mob. HKs, heal. It's only basic decency. If you feel the monsters are too tough, you have no busines s being there. Pick a lower map to level up.
As for lag, well, it happens to everyone at some point. Unless you use the lag excuse in each and every party.
SPAMMING If I had a penny for each spam that I have seen.. *sigh*
Honestly, if no one responds the first 20 times you say 'anyone has ___?' or 'selling ___ pm me fast' isn't it a frickin clue that no one actually has/wants it??

I see that all the time, and I mean ALL THE TIME

If only the game had a flood filter-block similar messages after the first five or something.
That's all for now. For the rest, enjoy the game, post your experiences here in the forums and have fun!
