Life sucks for an archer at lower levels. The 3 basic arrows (flame cold thunder) are pretty hard to get, and monsters that crowd you(every map infact) can deal serious damage.
For a long time i struggled with quests, then leeched with some people who seem to have left since then (anyone remember the mage Plasmaqueen ?)
I've followed a combined strategy of leeching and questing-when you have a quest applicable for a range of levels (say 20-40) wait till you've reached the middle level before doing them. They're easier to do then.
Now my archer is 6x, and I alternate leeching r3 (thanks Adimax, Dragonmage and my KH members! ) with questing in R2. Chainshot seems to have made life a bit easier.
Hit and run sounds good in theory-but most maps are so crowded (take s1, r2 or carode as an example) that while running from one monster, you attract the attention of several more, and before you know it there's a large unwanted fan following.
So-archers HAVE to party with a necten HK or a mage, and then quest from the relative safety of the HK/mage's side. This kinda runs contrary to the impression of them being solo hunters who can work independently. Maybe that's true-but at much higher levels.
Any high archers got anything to say on this, I'd appreciate it.
As of now I'm just waiting to lvl up to Arrowstorm!
