Dog-Racing Tips and Strats

Apologies if this has been posted already...

Dog-Racing

Disclaimer: All the tips detailed here are shared on a goodwill
basis. They are not foolproof. As in any game of chance, there is an
element of risk. When and if you do follow these tips, you use them
at your own risk and the Cru is not and will not be liable for any
untoward results or losses whatsoever. All subsequent curses and
aspersions to my genealogy, upbringing and parentage as a result of
your failed bets will be largely ignored with the unsolicited offers
of sex that the Cru regularly gets. You may however choose to share
any gains in undisclosed anonymous donations via deliveries of UJs
to the Cru as you see him running like a spazoid through Hellmarsh.

1) Spread your bets
No matter how attractive Guntherr looks at the starting block,
visually or statistically, the son of a *censored* (well, he is a a son
of a *censored*) can throw the race like a 2wz whore. Always spread your
bets amongst at least 3 dogs to cast an optimum net. I'm not saying
you can't focus and bet your life-savings and mother on one dog. I'm
also not saying you can't win on one dog. I'm just saying that you
have a better chance of hitting a winning bet with a well-considered
spread.

2) Why 3 dogs
You can statistically bet on all 5 dogs in varying bet amounts, and
still come out smelling like roses. But that level of micro-betting
is neither worth the time for this platform nor the small gains. 3
out of 5 is fair. 3 out of 5 is better than 2 out of 5. 4 out of 5
and 5 out of 5 requires too much fingers and maths. So a 3-dog combi
suffices for all intents and purpose.

3) WTF do you mean by a spread
This means picking and betting on 3 dogs in multiple combinations.
Singles may also be played after the 3 main bets, but these should
be roughly half in value to the full bets, as support or insurance.
So for example:

Race XXXX
Week of Fire
Guntherr - 33% (dog 1) - Fire dog
Logi - 14% (dog 2) - 14% - Water dog
Ghrani - 31% (dog3) - Fire dog
Loki - 9% (dog4) - Wind dog
Gyges - 13% (dog 5) - Fire dog

I can buy full bets on 13 and 35.
Half bets on 15.
Optional: Quarter bets on 23 and 21, or even 24 (just for fun).

A scrutiny of the odds will show that should any of your full or
half bets hit, winnings should cover the cost of your bets plus
change. From personal experience, better gains usually come from
underdog bets in the half-bets. The whole betting scheme may not
amount to much when your bets hit, but hey, your percentile chance
of winning has increased marginally from a D20 roll to a D8.
Consistent, slow and steady gains.

4) Do the individual dog stats mean anything?
They mean 5hite. Absolutely 5hite. Forget the indiv stats. From
personal experience, the element of the week, past wins and posted
odds give a better indication of how the race will go.

Notice the "View Updated Odds" button in your odds page? That gives
you an indication of what people are buying. Sometimes, these seems
at odds with what the stats on page 1 say. So you are like, do they
know something I don't? Chances are, they do. And they are gambling
by odds and past performance, latter of which is only indicative.

5) Where is this so-called "10-year series"?
Notice the past race archives on your claim dividends page? Those
list the past performances of the top 2 dogs for all the preceding
races. What is interesting to note is what dogs consistently appear
in each elemental trunch and what the multiple combi odds usally
are. If nothing else, mapping this should give you a better idea on
which dogs should come in this week than whatever dubious stats are
accorded each dog on the main page.

As a rough guide, winning combis usually come in under 12%, with the
odd kelong race hitting 30% or more.

6) Enough with the bull5hit. Will I win if I follow all of the above?
All the Cru can say is that, you will have a higher percentile
chance of winning. This is also dependent on the number of people
who actually take the time to understand and bet according to this
tutorial. As the bet weightages start to balance out more
intelligently, we may witness a new betting dynamic come into play.
The Cru is interested to see how this plays out, and that is why the
Cru is sharing these tips with you.

7) A final word
Pluchir is not an integrated resort. There are no pawn shops,
souvenir shops, arcade machines, amusement rides or other modes of
revenue-generation at Pluchir. To build all these and to afford
Lanibia better-looking underwear, Hellmarsh needs your wz. At the
end of the day, your failed bets go towards amortizing the monetary
inbalances in the game economy.

Bet only what you can afford to lose and enjoy the ride. If you lose
your life savings, be glad its just wz.
