HKs at the very core are balanced between melee attack and magic-they have a good balance of both. Many of their skills are useful in parties-heal being an example.
There are elemental weapon and shield skills-that increase your elemental attack or defense respectively (ice fire and lightning varieties of weapon and shield, each skill having 3 levels). These can be cast on others, thereby helping them.
At high lvls the Karna Weapon skill greatly raises attack power and can also be cast on party members.
Breath of Redyan (not castable on others) greatly increases HKs defense for around 15 seconds (not sure exact); it's good for boss hunting.
Other than that, HKs get area skills earlier than warriors (necten at level 50, demon hunter at around 76) which means that an HK can solo after 50.
Other interesting skills are Aposple (sword skill, does enormous critical damage) and Razbadge(traps other players in a field after which they can be attacked)
