Wisdom from an Ancient Player...

Hi All,
Most (mayhap none) of you would remember me, I was one of the first players in A3, back when it was closed beta..worked hard with the GM's to get the lag issues resolved back then..But seems things are pretty much the way it is....same old issues - lag, connectivity, hacking..
I moved from A3 to numerous MMOs - Guildwars, Everques2 and currently Eve online...the ONE thing thats common to all these games is - yep you guessed it - NO NATIONALITY...
Sure there ARE North American Servers or European servers..but there's no hard and fast rule as to which server you want to go to..simply a matter of opinion - say u might want to go to an Asian servers coz more indians/koreans etc would be playing...
my point is ... A3 , although a decent looking game - is flawed !! Actoz really didn't make this a clustered server game..its more client-server or point to point...which is ridiculous because the farther you are from the server - the slower your response time...
further, the game is DESIGNED to mimic a mouse-click-sword-hit type of thing...which means for every mouse click..a packet goes ALL the way to the server and comes back!! The longer the time the packet takes to get to Radyan...the slower your attacks may feel (which is waht used to happen to VSNL people- their packet used to go from india to USA and then back to india to the server..coz thats how their packets were routed...dunno if its fixed now..VSNL would need a direct router to radyan
..something ISPs dont really care to do)
ERGO - Game is LOCAL (u simply cant think of playing it from USA for example)...Lag will NOT improve beyond a threshold...and everyone knows a standalone server based design is very easy to hack- thus ur hacking aarghs!!!
My suggestion - Live with it, enjoy the game despite its hard wired flaws - and try not to expect a population explosion on the server - neither can people from far off appreciate and play the lag .. NOR can server take that kind of load...
Battle away!!!
PS : On a less critical note, I think we should appreciate the will of the publishers to bring the first true MMO to India (no one else cares about us, so I guess they should get this credit)......hopefully they'll pioneer this nacent industry...
