Walking around quanato i heard some high level players like Arthastg talking about the problem of leechers. They went to the extreme of saying the GM s hould do something about thus failing which the game will be ruined. They felt it was unfair the way new players are levelling up faster with some help from their high level friends. IS THIS SO WRONG IN AN MMOG !!!!!!! ??

Hmm I was actually writing an article on leeching.So anyway ill post it up here.

Firstly there is the leecher(the guy who does'nt attack and gets the XP) and the hmm Leechee(the guy who does all the work) .So lets examine all the points.Firstly leeching is a practise that is present in all MMO's and is widely accepted in all of them.Some ppl have probs with it bcoz they think it is unfair to the guys who work hard to make their character.

Advantages of leeching for the leecher.
1)Faster lvl ups without any hard work except of course dodging attacks.
2)Good drop chances and easy money.
3)Less chance of being PK'ed
4)It's fun.

Disadvantages of leeching for the leecher.
1)Wo'nt gain any lore points ie points for doing quests.
2)Will have probs learning concepts of game like which elemental damage to use against which monsters.
3)Is very addictive.
4)Is irritating to some players and will make u a PK target in cases.
5)Is looked down by some players.
6)Will leave you short of money almost always.


Advantages of leeching for the leechee.
1)they will provide distractions to monsters in areas and can prevent you from getting mobbed.
2)can get you MP and HP if needed(very helpful in cases).
3)Can be fun seeing ppl chating up in the party at times.

Disadvantages of leeching for the leechee.
1)number one loss is you will lose a lot of money.It will cost you a ton of money.
2)Number of drops will be less due to low lvl players in party chances of high lvl drops seem less.not sure of this though.
3)will lose a small % of Xp.
4)Irritatingly annoying at times with the party banter .


Also the thing is I think 5% of xp is going to the leecher per kill.Not sure that was what i was testing out.maybe 10% too.somebody check this out and post here.but this amount is almost negligible IMO to high lvl players.

If you are short of money DO NOT have a leecher in your party.

Well I am guilty of letting lot of ppl leech on me.
Though i must say it is not tht bad, as long as it is not made a habit.
Every party member should contribute to the hunt by way of luring monsters or giving pots etc. Just standing there and taking in all xp is not good.

Once in a while it is ok. I myself leeched on Warlike but the pact there was I used to heal him all the time, this led to him progressing faster and saving a lot of Wz.

The only thing that irritates the hell out of me is that leechers break certain rulez i made to allow ppl to leech. they are supposed to give me high lvl items...coz i am doing all the work.

Well i found that ppl give stuff selectivly, keeping good items to themselves and giving ordinary stuff to me.

This has led me to reduce partying drastically with noobz or leechers.
Well if u not gonna do things my way then it is the highway for u!

Also Mavericknh, partying has a bigger advantage...it gives bonus XP.
Bigger the party ...Bigger the bonus XP. Therefore partying is always good, and should mostly be limited to same lvl chars. It is more fun then.

The leecher as you guys call it would not really be a leech if he contributed properly like healing or giving away potions. But otherwise it's not fair and there should be some means of stopping it. Anyway I disagree with you mavericknh that leeching prevents pks. If the person is weak then he will be slaughtered before the leechee can react. I once saw an hk and a warrior leeching of a high lvl warrior in Carode. I killed both the low lvls with 2 shots each of spout and the high lvl guy didn't even realise it , anyway the leecher can sometimes stray far away from the leechee when dodging monsters he can't face.

leeching is good i like it ....i wont miss a chance to leech from some high lvl chrcter ,but i havent tried it out yet.
Reason: party members tend to sway me from going for the supa dupa killings*,some even abuse me n ditch the party .......then Gaara is so heart broken.
i dont like partying wid carnage either ,he gets all the frags n me gets no share of his parole points...

imagine leeching from shadzzzz or chief ................. 600 parole points per hour......yippeeeeeeeeeee!!

Anyway I really dislike leeching cause it's unfair to the people who work hard and lvl up their char alone. So anyone who really likes leeching and supports it plz leave your characters name (and lvl) on this thread.

i think u should leech new guys to lvl 15 after tht leave them on their own. THey need to do quest for the lore points man.

I heal mages and leech in olgocs and dark olgocs. THe mages are only happy to take me along .
They cant stand down there cause they use too many pots. I happily heal them and get all the olgocs together in groups.
Think this kinda stuff is allowed.

I hate guys who leech for no use.

I think u gain more than the mage,
U just give ur hp pots, in return u get exp,high grade equipement drop, extra money. If the mage play alone she can lvl up more faster, the only problem will be goto town and buy hp and come back and that too will take only 2 min.
