Very poor drops in S1 and R4 :(

Why does this happen to me only? At long last I've leveled up enough to survive S1 moderately-the fabled land of G7 drops that sell for millions and make one rich. And what do I get? Bones. Scales. Pointy hairs. Nerydars.(atleast nerydars are useful) 
As if the stupid special stone event wasn't enough-with even bigger creeps like cynicks dropping only special stones.
Same goes for R4. There also-drops are few and far between-just scrolls and nerydars being worthwhile.
And at the same time-I see that others are getting good drops if at all.
I'm constrained in that I can only play at night-I have a job to go to during the day and so can't play all day (as I'd love to
)
Yet-sometimes even in the same party-I get the pointy hairs, while people around me get great armor and weapons.
