Forms of lag reduction measures

Ingame lag may be caused by various issues. In this page, I will attempt to address some of the common issues in simple terms to allow easier understanding. Also, I will guide you on setting your A3 Option to allow least lag game play.

Let us start with the basics of eliminating spywares which takes up your bandwidth. Spywares enters your computer automatically when you surf popular websites or even the most innocent ones.

It is quite easy to remove normal spywares with a few simple tools 'softwares' which are very user friendly.
Lavasoft Adaware
Free
AVG Anti Spyware
Free
Trendmicro Free Tools
Free

Usage Guide:
The above 3 softwares are all very simple to use and are free.
Just follow the simple steps below after you installed the software.

1. Run an update to get the latest virus file definitions.
2. Run scan to detect any threats
3. Delete/remove any threats detected by the software.

Done! Now no spyware will be able to send out information causing you to use up unnecessary bandwidth and lagging you. Try to run at least 1 program before you log into your game.

After you have succesfully eliminate the spywares, now we touch on Virus. These includes trojan that opens up backdoors allowing hackers to gain access to your computer files and information. People usually get infected by opening unknown emails or clicking infected links.

AVG Anti Virus
Free Trendmicro House Call
Free

These program works like spyware cleaners and uses the exact same steps. Once are done installing, Run the program and do the 3 same steps:

1. Run an update to get the latest virus file definitions.
2. Run scan to detect any threats
3. Delete/remove any threats detected by the software.

Done! now you got rid of those irritating viruses that is causing pop ups and restarting your computer or programs from time to time. (Recommended to scan once every 3-4 days)

Next, no computer is secure without a Personal Firewall. I would stress personal firewall very much as you cannot rely simply on the windows firewall. Without a personal firewall, you will be lagging in any game compared to those who have.

Zone Alarm Firewall
Free Sygate Firewall
Requires license

Firewall acts as a security guard. It keeps an eye on your internet traffic on what program is trying to come into your computer and what program is trying to send out info from your computer. If you know the program, allow the process. If you do not know and it seems suspicious, disallow it. (always have it ON when online)

Tips: Do check the options and try to enable 'hide notification' options. Hiding such notification will allow you to play your game without pop ups interupting you.

So by now, you have done Anti Spyware, Anti Virus and Firewall Protection, Simple isn't it!

Next will be hardware maintenance. Keeping your computer in a cool area, allowing necessary ventilation, making sure the fan is working correctly to keep your processor cool is important. As soon as your graphic card or processor overheats, you will bound to experience lag.

Also, do defragment your computer once a month. I personally use Executive Diskeeper. It analyses your computer and tells you how many percent it can improve in overall performance. What defragementation basically does is to shift all the most frequently used files to the front so that your computer does not need to dig deep inorder to retrieve a file. Thus increasing reading speed.

Lastly, below are some common knowledge about A3 that you should know if you don't want to suffer unnecessary lag.

LAG AFTER MULTIPLE RECONNECTION
(DO NOT USE THE RECONNECT BUTTON)
Reconnect button bugs and stacks up required computer resources. So do not use Reconnect feature. Always exit the game client fully and restart it again.

LAG DURING TRAINING:
How to identify the cause:
When training together as a party and the whole party feels very laggy. Do the following test to see if it's the server that is laggy or due to ISP bandwidth problem.
Step 1: Disband Party
Step 2: Move away to another part of the map where you will be far from other players.
Step 3: Move around once you are far away from other players at the other corner of the map.

Result: If when you are alone at one corner of a map and you can move without a problem, this means that the lag was cause by the inconsistent bandwidth from the ISP of the various players in your party. It has nothing to do with you or the server.

LAG AFTER EXITING ARENA
Due to the Game Server and Arena Server being different, there is a possible time lapse of time after you exit the arena causing a Lag effect.
To solve this problem, simply press ESC, click EXIT to exit the game client..
After that, manually restart the game client as usual
The Phoenix is back
Have no fear Phoenix is here
